We have to share the sad news that our colleague John Tate passed away today, October 16, 2019. John Tate was a Professor
at the Harvard mathematics department from 1954 to 1990, and returned to Harvard in 2009 as Professor Emeritis.

It is with sadness that we have to announce that Gerald Sacks passed away on October 4th, 2019. Gerald Sacks was a logician who
served as a professor at the Harvard Mathematics Department for 40 years, from 1972 to 2012.

awarded the Churchill Scholarship by the Winston Churchill Foundation
of the United States.
This is a scholarship for a year of post-graduate study and research
in the sciences, engineering and mathematics at the University of
Cambridge. Competition for this Scholarship is rather intense with only fourteen
Scholarships awarded this year.
